Bangalore Namma Metro is owned and operated by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. The metro has a total of 41 sub-stations and is spread across an area of 42.3 KM. The Bangalore metro was announced in 2010-11 and became operational on 01 March 2014 in the first phase. Presently, only two lines namely, Purple and Green light are operational.

Bangalore Namma Metro Total Phases
Bangalore Namma Metro line is laid over in two phases. The first phase was inaugurated by the government in 2014. Whereas, the second phase of the metro line was completed in the year 2021. Here you can know major details related to both phases of Bangalore Namma Metro.
Bangalore Namma Metro Phase 1
The first phase of Bangalore Namma Metro was announced in 2010-11 and was divided into two sub-phases 3 and 3A. The underground construction was in the year 2011 and the total cost was Rs 2100 crores. The first stretch was launched from National College and Nagasandra in 2014. In 2017, the second stretch between Nagasandra and Yelachenahalli was for 25,000 commuters.
Bangalore Namma Metro Phase 2
The construction for phase 2 of Bangalore Namma Metro began in 2016 and the same was completed in 2021. The total cost for the project was 508 crores. This green line was constructed between Yelachenahalli to Silk Institute spread across 6.5 KM. This line was further extended from Yelachenahalli to NICE Anjana Township from Yelachenahalli and then to Bangalore International Exhibition Centre.
Bangalore Namma Metro Booking Process
One can book their tickets for Bangalore Namma Metro from the ticket counter or can also apply for a metro pass. To make the process more convenient, the Bangalore Namma Metro has launched an online app. The app has been launched by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL). Using the app, one can book a ticket, generate a pass and also check the route map and timing for the different stations.
